When 41 farmers are presented as a success, while thousands of agricultural producers remain in crisis
In the context of the crisis in the agricultural sector, the Civic Movement “Building Trust” publishes a declaration drawing attention to the gap between the authorities’ optimistic messages and the difficult reality on the ground. The Movement emphasizes that many of the announced measures, such as loans, VAT refunds, compensation for the excise duty on diesel fuel, or drought-related aid, do not adequately address the real problems faced by farmers: lack of liquidity, accumulated debts, outstanding subsidy payments, the effects of drought, and the risk of bankruptcy for small and medium-sized agricultural holdings.
The Civic Movement “Building Trust” believes that farmers in the Republic of Moldova must be supported through real, rapid, and predictable measures, so they can overcome the current crisis, continue their work, and contribute to rural development, food security, and the national economy. Agriculture should not be treated only through statements and formal reports. It needs public policies that effectively reach farmers and give them the chance to work, invest, and prosper in their own country.
